It’s that time of year again. Temperatures and people’s desire to travel are both on the rise. Naturally, we hope you will visit us here in the Destin – Ft. Walton Beach area. No matter where you go we want you to have a good time. As such, we thought we’d share some tips regarding items to bring on your next beach vacation.

Clothing. Everybody knows to bring a swimsuit or two, clothes to go out in, and clean undies, but there are a few items that may be easily forgotten. Flip flops or aqua socks are great for walking on the hot sand, from the hotel to the beach, or along the boardwalks. Sunglasses are, well, if you aren’t familiar with the benefits of sunglasses, you may want to read here. Beach towels are great to bring if you have the space. The hotel or condo you’re staying at will have towels, but they will be regular bath towels. Beach towels’ size allow for far more use than simply wicking water from your body.

Toiletries. Of course you won’t want to forget your toothbrush and shampoo, but there is one toiletry item no trip to the beach, or any destination with mostly outdoor activities, should be without. Sunscreen. It should be applied liberally and often. At the beach, sunlight and its UV rays bounce off of the water and sand, attacking skin from every angle, even on cloudy days. Be safe.

Memory keepers like cameras or video equipment should be near the top of your packing list. While visiting Florida, you’re likely to see dolphins, crabs, sea turtles, and sharks. This will be a great experience for you and, if you’re traveling with kids, an especially memorable time for them.

Speaking of kids, if you’re traveling with them some other items to bring to the beach include sand toys like shovels, buckets, rakes, and sifters. There are seashells all along the beach, and if you get out early enough, you and your kids will likely find some real beauties.

We hope we have helped you remember some items to bring on your beach vacation. If we can be of any further assistance, let us know on Facebook or Twitter. We’re looking forward to sharing our sand and sunshine with you.

I forgot to bring my camera when I went to the beach with my family last summer but even so, we still had an amazing time. The sun, the sand and the beautiful ocean made the day special and unforgettable that’s why we always make time for a vacation on the beach every summer.
