Have you been outside recently? It’s getting warm out there, and one of the best ways to cool off is to get wet. Now, we know we talk about all kinds of things here on our blog, but most topics center around one thing – fun! Whether it’s flying, sightseeing, entertaining yourself at the terminal, or getting outdoors, we want you all to have a good time. Coming up in August, the Paddle at the Porch will be lots of wet, paddleboarding fun on the beautiful waters of the Northwest Florida coast. 

 

In case you missed it, we did a blog on stand up paddleboarding recently. In it, we discussed a bit about the history of the sport and some of the styles of boards. We also reminded you about your chance to win a custom board from the Northwest Florida Regional Airport on July 3rd and another from BOTE Boards. Keeping in line with this theme, and our title sponsorship of the event, we want to invite you all to attend the Paddle at the Porch, the Destin SUP Cup. Let us tell you a bit about it.


On August 18th, the inaugural Destin SUP Cup will be held at The Back Porch in Destin. This SUPer event features several variations of competitive stand-up paddleboarding fun.  Beginning at 10:00 a.m., a 3 Mile Displacement, 3 Mile Surfstyle, 6 Mile 14’ Elite, 6 Mile 12’ 6”, and a 6 Mile Surfstyle race will begin. The races will conclude with awards, food, and a lot of fun. 


Awards will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place overall, as well as 1st place for paddlers 50 and older, 18 and younger, and for a man and a woman in each of the 5 race categories.

 “Prior to Aug. 18, the fee is $55. Registration may be completed on www.active.com , before Aug. 15. Registration may also be completed by submitting this form with payment to the Destin Area Chamber of Commerce by Aug. 17. On Aug. 18, the fee is $65. Race day registration may be completed at The Back Porch, located at 1740 Scenic Hwy. 98 E., in Destin, from 8 – 9:30 a.m. 


T-shirts and commemorative coolers will be given to registrants while supplies last.”
