Through the installation of fine art showcasing Florida artists along with rotating exhibits and historical displays that reflect the culture and history of the area, the Destin – Fort Walton Beach Airport’s art program will engage visitors and brand the airport and our gulf coast location as an unforgettable southern travel destination.
- Our first exhibition was “Visions of Florida: The Photographic Art of Clyde Butcher.” Butcher is often called the Ansel Adams of Florida. His large-format, black and white photography of Florida’s natural landscapes will change the way people thin of Florida.
- The second exhibit was of Florida landscape artists showcasing 21 Florida artists.
- The third and current exhibit focuses on “The Art of Uncle Monday: Kitty Kitson Petterson’s Illustrations for the book Uncle Monday and Other Florida Tales.
- Our next venue will feature the art of Bob Stegner, the longtime ASA Station Manager. Bob’s untimely death will be celebrated with about 30 of his well-known drawings of Air Force aircraft from the Presidential Air Force One to the hard working helicopters of the Air Force Special Operations Command of the nearby Hurlburt Field.
